As I have posted before, I love virtual races because it give me somethign fun to do with all my training runs. Sometimes knowing you are running those miles for a specific cause and there is a medal waiting for you at home is the extra motivation that can help you push through the miles!
I love the Scooby-Doo Run Series because it not only give me something to work towards on my training runs, but it also gets those furry 4-legged children in our homes out with us! They love being outside just as much as we do, so why not let them earn their own bling!
Now, any of you that know me, I do not have a dog of my own. I’d love to have one, but I am on the road so much that it would not be practical. So for the September DooGood virtual race, I borrowed my neighbor’s dog Koda! He’s a full energy dog that love to run so it was perfect!
After a few training runs, it was time for the big day! I stopped next door to pick up my running buddy and we hit the streets in the neighborhood. Since this was Koda’s first real 5k, we weren’t worried about time, we just enjoyed the adventure! There were squirrels along the way as well as a bunny. Koda had every intention of chasing them, but he kept going!
It was a perfect fall afternoon to just get out and enjoy the sounds and smells of the season. Because of the distractions along the way, it took us a little longer to complete the miles, but we got it done! Sometimes, it’s not about the time or pace, its about enjoying the moment!
Looking forward to getting our swag in the mail so that Koda can proudly show off his bling! Yes, all dog receive their own bling!! A medal for you and then a medal and handkerchief for your running buddy!!
