The Crazy Hamster is setting some big goals for 2019!

In May 2017, I finished my 1st marathon and had ZERO plans to run another 26.2.  Then last fall the opportunity to fun the NYC Marathon came up.  Yup, the bug was back.  I realized that I loved the challenge, I loved pushing myself further and harder.     I knew I needed to add another marathon to my calendar for 2019.  Little did I realize that adding one, would lead to 2!   Aside from a full calendar of half marathons over the next several months and a full in October, I am excited to me rounding out my 2019 race calendar with the Madison Marathon in November!

Why Madison?

As most of you know, I love running in new places.  I’ve covered 24 states, running 50 half marathons and 2 marathons.  I’ve run all over Wisconsin, but I have NEVER run in Madison!  That’s right.  I’ve run all over the state, but never through the states capitol!

When the opportunity to run Madison came up with BibRave, I opted in right away, for the half marathon.  Shortly after I received the email that I was in… I started thinking…

What better way to see and explore Madison than running 26.2 miles with friends! I have a few other local friends that will be in Madison (and one already signed up for the Marathon) PLUS now I will have other BibRave Pro’s out there on the course with me to!

Yes, there are some crazy hills but the course also travels through some awesome areas and along the shoreline of Lake Mendota! But that just adds to the challenge.  It was time to run another 26.2!

I mentioned my thoughts to Crystal and she didn’t hesitate when she said “yes, come run it with me!”  we can make sure we get through it together!

Before I could talk myself OUT of it, I submitted my registration.  No turning back now!

I’ll be honest, this one scares the beejeebers out of me. The course has a strict 6 hour cut off! My 1st marathon was a 5:52, the second was a 6:15! Time to get focused and stay focused! This also means time to gather up the tribe to make sure I get in all those training miles, speed workouts, hill sprints and long runs. It also means sticking with the strength training, as well as cross training! It’s going to be a wild summer but I’m looking forward to the adventure!

I’m also looking forward to spending some time exploring the city a bit. This is a city full of so many fun places to visit and I know that in my handful of trips to the city, I have not even covered the tip of the iceberg! The Hamster needs to try to restaurants and see new places!

So… if you are familiar with the Madison area and have some suggestions on where I need to go, where I need to eat and what I need to see, let me know!

In the meantime, I’ve got some miles to run to start training for another epic 26.2 miles!
