Who is Amy?

Growing up, I was always involved with sports.  If there was a sport I could participate in, I did.  Keep in mind, I grew up in a small town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula,  there was not always a lot to do!  Sports is what kept me busy.  When I look back now, I realize that back then, I was being true to myself.  I needed to move!

After high school, that changed.  Yes, I was active during my college years, but not nearly as much as I was in the  past.  That was about the time that fast food and convenience foods became the norm for me.  Don’t get me wrong, I was happy, but I wasn’t leading the healthiest life.

Then came the “career years”.  It was all about building a career and using the degree that I worked so hard to earn.

Over the last few years, I realized that there was something missing. I had a good job, with a great company and some pretty cool co-workers but I just felt that there was more out there for me.  At the time, I had no clue what it was.  This was about the same time that I just didn’t feel good.  I was dealing with migraines, was always tired and started struggling through the activities that I loved.   I tried different diets, changing up activities and so much more. In reality, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired!

At the recommendation of a friend, I visited a new Dr.  One who really took the time to ask the important questions and didn’t just give me a prescription and tell me to come back in a month.  She helped me find the real reason for why I was feeling the way that I was!  Over the next several months, with several gradual changes, it was a new world for me.  Within a few weeks, I had energy again, the migraines were disappearing and for the first time in years, I really felt good!  It’s wasn’t just about what I was eating.  It was finding the balance in everything!

It was at this point that I realized there was more out there for me.  More I needed to do to help others who were traveling down the same path that I was! It’s wasn’t just about weight loss anymore.  It was about finding that overall optimal wellness. I took a leap of faith and went back to school.

Which brings us to where we are today.  I am back to being active.  I have found that I love running, hiking and finding new places to explore! Oh yeah, and I just started teaching cycling classes! 15 years ago, if someone told me that I would be running half marathons, finished a full marathon and even completed a 50k, I would have said they were crazy. That is where this crazy health and wellness adventure has taken me!  I am active, working on the healthiest version of myself and have new goals that I am continuing to work towards!

Now I want to help you achieve your health and wellness goals!  Together we can make a difference.
